March 2013 – Where Are They Now?

MikeGoetz 2

Hey CCTA members! My name is Mike Goetz and I was a scholarship recipient back in 2000. A lot has happened since then so I will catch everyone up. I am originally from Napa, CA, but gave up the endless fields of grapes to attend Arizona State University where I graduated Magnum Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture and a Minor in Design Studies.  I also played on the men’s volleyball team for a year during my time in Arizona.

Closing that chapter of my life, I threw everything I owned in a U-Haul and moved to Los Angeles to start my professional career as a designer at a global design, architecture, and planning firm in the interiors department. I spent a little over two years in the city of dreams when I realized I needed more training and education to ensure that my dreams come true.

This time I reduced my life to two suitcases and jetted off to New York City to attend Parsons the New School for Design. I will be graduating this May with my Master of Architecture. I have come to realize that I love all aspects of design, not simply architecture. When this journey ends, I am ready to explore what the design world has to offer; I am ready to push the boundaries and leave my mark.

I want to thank everyone that makes these scholarships possible because it really served as the launching point to my collegiate education and my career. If you are interested in seeing the design work I have completed over the past 7 years you can check out my website (www.mike-goetz.com).

Thanks again!
