A Look Back at 2013 and Beyond
The California Dump Truck Owners Association established the California Scholastic Program in 1991 to assist qualified students in achieving their goals in the pursuit of higher education. Seven scholarship awards are available each year for incoming Freshman, continuing Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors. Winning scholars will receive the awarded amount to be deposited in their name at the Financial Aid Office of the Campus of their choice, for use when purchasing books, supplies and tuition fees.
Being involved with the Scholarship program and having the honor of being on the Scholarship Committee has been very rewarding and educational for me.
We have been running a section in CTN entitled “Where Are They Now?” While searching for past recipients of the scholarship program, I realized just how much money the association has been able to donate to so many young men and women.
Here’s a partial list of just a few students who have received financial assistance from the CDTOA Scholarship Program;
- Brandon Perluss – $2,500
- Teddi Nichols – $4,500
- Kittie Buck – $4,600
- Kathryn Emery – $3,500 and
- Jaime Taylor – $3,000 just to name a few.
The Scholarship Program has been able to award CCTA family members with over $79,000 in the last ten years.
