Reviewing The Freshman Applications

The Scholarship Committee of CDTOA met in early June to review the Freshman Applications and what a wonderful group of applicants we had.

We realize the hardships facing so many in our industry today, and it is for this reason we increased the number of scholarships that were awarded. Awards were given in the names of Walt and Janice Dobbs, Terra Trucking, AADT (American Alliance Drug Testing) and CDTOA.  Read more

May 2010 Update

The CDTOA Scholarship Committee is honored to announce our latest award in the names of Walter and Janice Dobbs.

Past President Walter Dobbs and wife Janice were both founding members of the Scholarship Committee and Janice also served as the committee chairperson for many years after.

At the Ventura Chapter Meeting held April 10, former committee members David Grande and Pirkle presented Walt and Janice with both a plaque and recognition award of both their many years of service and dedication to the Scholarship Committee.

I like to use this column to write somewhat humorous takes on the trucking industry. I don’t really know if this story falls under funny, stupid, or that famous trucker phrase, “Hey, you ain’t going to believe this s#!t.” If you listen to Sirius XM Satellite Radio, lately they have been running an infomercial for the California Air Resources Board featuring none other than Lisa Kelly of Ice Road Truckers fame. ‘Oh What a Tangled Web We Weave, When First We Practice to Deceive’

By Betty Plowman – Northern Membership Services Director

This saying was buried deep in my brain for almost fifty-years after I tried unsuccessfully to deceive my mother, and she shared that line on me.
