May 2013 – Where Are They Now?

From Trucker’s Daughter to The Best Dressed List

Hello CCTA members! My name is Amy Marietta, daughter of Dean Marietta, a member of the CCTA. I am fortunate to have been a recipient of the CCTA Scholarship in 2011.

In 2011, I transferred from Cal State Fullerton and jetted across the country to New York to attend the Fashion Institute of Technology.

This year I graduated with my AA in Fashion Merchandising Management and now I am working on my BA to further my education.

Making the move from California to New York was a new chapter in my life and took a lot of adjusting due to the fast-paced environment in NYC.

This city has enabled me to work under pressure and negotiate, which are both key in succeeding in today’s society, as you all know.

The internship opportunities available to me in New York were very challenging and I learned a tremendous amount.

The first week I moved to New York I began interning for a PR company. While I gained some experience there, I realized that PR was not the area I wanted to pursue.

I then found an internship with an e-commerce fashion company that needed a Social Media manager. This was a job I thoroughly enjoyed, excelled in and learned so much from.

During these two internships I started my own website-Viviere Bella-where I was recently ranked #4 in the Top 15 New York Fashion Blogs by COSMOPOLITAN Magazine during Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week (2012) as well as included in the best dressed list by GLAMOUR UK (2013).

Viviere Bella is an editorial fashion blog focused on urban, bridge wear, and designer styles.

I have had the opportunity to work with amazing brands, help with advertising concepts, host events and attend Fashion Week to report on the top styles hitting the runway.

I was invited to attend Paris Fashion Week for the first time this past March. This was a great experience and definitely a highlight in my career. I am now solely working for myself on my website along with going to school and thoroughly enjoying every day of it.

I want to thank everyone that makes these scholarships possible because it really helps students thrive in their professional careers and inspire others.

Thanks again!
