July 2012 – Scholarship Recipients: Where are they now?

By Megan Morgan

Hello, my name is Megan Morgan. My grandfather, William Burch is a member of the CCTA (CDTOA).  I was fortunate enough to receive a scholarship from the CCTA this past fall.

My scholarship went towards funding my college education for my freshman year at San Diego State University.  I decided to major in civil engineering, because I enjoy and excel in mathematics and I think that it would be exciting and interesting to design and build beautiful buildings.

Engineering is a career field that will always need employees, because multiple structures are being built all over to accommodate the growing population and increase efficiency.  I am thinking about minoring in interior design, so that I can design the outside and inside of a building.  Plus, engineering and interior design both involve creativity and organization, which are two things that I enjoy doing.

Presently, my goal is to graduate from the Honors Program at San Diego State University in May, 2015, while maintaining my high GPA.  To be able to graduate from the Honors Program, I have to pass the classes involved in the Honors minor of Interdisciplinary Studies, study abroad, submit a senior project, be an active member in the Honors Program by attending events and meetings, and maintain a 3.5 GPA.  For the fall semester, I worked hard to receive a GPA of 3.87 and successfully completed fourteen units, including one honors class.  For this past spring semester, I received a 4.0 GPA and completed another honors course that doubled as general education.
