Pre-conditions disallow certain truck owners from accessing provision

After a contentious public hearing in Sacramento, a lawsuit filed by a motor carrier challenging CARB’s environmental analysis in approving amendments to the statewide truck and bus rule, and a series of public comment periods, CARB staff have officially unveiled how truck owners can access the new Economic Hardship Extension.

The Economic Hardship Extension was officially approved by the CARB Board on April 25, 2014 to give truck owners facing the financial inability to comply with the statewide truck and bus rule another couple of years to operate their vehicle(s) – if they complete a rigorous application process. I have been reading about the new CCTA National Account Tire Program with Michelin and Goodyear for about a month now, so I decided to see how much our company could save and how easy is ordering tires through the two programs.

The Alliance for California Business, a non-profit organization whose purpose is to protect and promote business growth throughout California, has struck again at the heart of the California Air Resources Board’s (“CARB”) requirement that diesel-powered trucks and buses statewide be equipped with Diesel Particulate Filters (“DPFs”). On Tuesday morning, the Alliance, whose members include truck owners and operators who haul goods throughout the state, filed a Motion for Preliminary Injunction in the Glenn County Superior Court in hopes to enjoin CARB’s enforcement of this requirement under its Truck and Bus Regulation. As diesel repair shops fill with DPF-equipped trucks awaiting repair, this regulation has proven itself to be an enormous financial burden to Californians, and one which is quickly proving to be dangerous to California’s motorists.
